Today’s metro journey gave me another little insight into something I have been learning for years: an unsettled mind can turn even a small situation into something much bigger.

Like every evening, I was travelling home by metro. It wasn’t extremely crowded, but all the seats were occupied and a few people were standing.

In the otherwise quiet metro, two women started arguing over a standing space reserved for bicycles. There was no bicycle at that moment, and initially, it seemed like such a small issue.

But over the next 5–6 minutes, the argument kept escalating.
The voices got louder.
The words became harsher.
Eventually, there were angry gestures and unpleasant words from both sides.

A few women around them initially tried to calm them down, reminding them that everyone was tired and heading home after a long day, and that perhaps it was better to simply let the matter go.
But neither seemed able to step away from the argument.

Finally, at one station, some of us called the metro staff on the platform for assistance. They came, intervened, and managed to stop the argument.

And as I continued my journey, one thought stayed with me:
How easily can a simple situation become a big drama when our mind is already disturbed or overwhelmed.

The two women were obviously affected by the situation themselves. But for those few minutes, their emotional state also affected everyone around them.

Someone might have been tired and trying to rest.
Someone might have been quietly travelling after a hectic day.
Someone might have been lost in their own thoughts.

We often think that managing our emotions is only about our own peace.
But it is also about the peace we carry into other people’s lives.

This is one of the reasons I believe taking care of our mental and emotional well-being is so important.

Not every situation needs a reaction.
Not everything needs to be corrected.
Not everything deserves our energy.

Sometimes, letting go of what is not in our control is not weakness. It is emotional maturity.

Interestingly, these are some of the thoughts I have explored through my first book Ishita too, including learning to let go, managing our thoughts and choosing where we direct our energy.

Because ultimately, working on ourselves doesn’t only help us feel better.
It helps us become a little easier to be around too. 🌱

And perhaps that itself is one small way of creating more Feel Good Moments around us. 💙
